Taking control of the hosting account allows us to ensure the overall quality of the website. All hosting is not equal when it comes to reliability, performance, and support. If you are going to invest a substantial amount of money in a solid website design and an ongoing SEO contract, you don’t want to have that investment jeopardized by a poor hosting service. By hosting your account, we are able to make SEO changes without any delay or complications. We provide a managed service and carefully monitor the performance of your site to make sure that there are no outages or response delays.
Your site will be safe in a highly reputable world class data center, utilizing state of the art multi-phase power redundancy and industrial cooling. Data center racks feature continuous battery power, industrial-class generators, and over one full ton of cooling capacity per individual server rack. Top notch security, fire suppression and power generation systems are all in place.
A lot of web hosts make promises regarding site up-time, but it’s up to you to keep them honest. If they fail to meet their guarantee, it only means that you can receive a pro-rated refund of some sort (assuming that you noticed the outage and reported it). However, outage refunds can never make up for the financial impact you suffer when your site is unreliable. It is our goal to make sure that your site never goes down unless it is for planned maintenance.
Many brief site outages often go unnoticed by website owners. These outages won’t go unnoticed by the web visitors that happen to be browsing your site at the time however. There can also be negative consequences if a search engine bot finds that your site is down when it visits. The only way to know your true up-time is to monitor the site from a variety of locations at frequent intervals.
Our hosting accounts will intentionally have email services disabled. There are multiple reasons for this.
1. Running email services with spam filtering on the same account that hosts your site takes away crucial system resources that are better served keeping your site’s performance up.
2. There are 3rd party email services that are far superior to the email that would be included with the default hosting account configuration.
3. There are liability issues with hosting email on a server that we would prefer not to deal with.
We recommend the use of Google Apps for an extremely affordable and effective email solution that works for most small-mid size businesses. Google Apps can be configured for use with your domain name (mail@mydomain.com), has very effective SPAM filtering, a nice webmail interface, threaded messages, a shared calendar, and allows for 100 mailboxes for free.
You may not realize it, but most shared hosting accounts also share a single IP address among dozens of other accounts. In this scenario your site may be sharing an IP with websites of all sorts of varied genres and reputations. There is some belief (not consensus) that search engine ranking algorithms also show some favor to sites that use unique IP addresses.
